Today, we're talking about borrowing success clues to create your next hot strategy. Have you ever noticed that when something is going right in your life, you feel unstoppable? Maybe it's the way you're crushing your morning workouts, or how your friendships feel alive and nourishing, or even the ease with which you whipped up dinner last night.
When things flow, it's like the universe is high-fiving you. But here's the kicker. Most of us forget to take inventory of those wins. We laser focus on the problems — The business isn't scaling fast enough, the job that drains us, the relationships stuck on autopilot, the scale stuck on a number that just won't drop any lower. OK!?!
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:01:18 What if I told you that the very qualities fueling your wins are the same ones that can help you solve your challenges? Would you be interested?
Because, my friend, success leaves clues.
Today I'm going to show you how to borrow brilliance from what's already working in your life and transfer it to the places that feel stuck.
Here's the deal. Our brains are wired with something called negativity bias. Psychologists at UC Berkeley discovered that negative experiences have a stronger impact on us than positive ones of the same intensity. Which means we were naturally inclined to zero in on the problem.
But positive psychology, led by researchers like Martin Seligman, proves that when we amplify what's working, our strengths, values, and wins, we build resilience, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
In fact, Gallup found that people who use their strengths every day are six times more engaged in their work and three times more likely to report having an excellent quality of life. Translation: the very strategies that help you succeed in one area can absolutely cross-pollinate to another.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:02:35 I think that's amazing news. So let's pause for a second. I'd like you to think of one area of your life that's humming along beautifully. Got it? Maybe it's your health, your friendships, your creativity, whatever it is. Take a minute to think about that. Now ask yourself, what qualities make this work? Is it consistency? A clear routine, supportive people, a sense of joy, and play, a deep value like integrity or freedom.
This is where the gold is. These are your success clues.
Let me give you a real-world example. One of my clients is a talented licensed massage therapist who has been in the bodywork field for over 20 years. Recently, he has been called to pivot and pivot into coaching. Here's the cool part. He's already built a coaching roster of seven clients. And do you know how? By borrowing the success clues from what was already working, his bodywork practice thrived because of his ability to create deep, one-on-one connections. His clients trusted him.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:04:01 They knew he held sacred space for transformation. He wasn't about surface-level interactions, and he definitely wasn't about blasting people with spammy social media posts that just didn't feel authentic to him. So we asked, what if we used the exact same qualities that made his massage practice thrive: trust, depth, authentic relationship, and applied them to his marketing?
Instead of forcing himself into a mold that didn't fit, we built his marketing around what was natural to him:
1. Outreach calls to his existing network-
This works because it's simple. It's relational conversations that are warm and genuine.
2. Asking for introductions-
When you've built years of trust. People are happy to connect you with others they believe could benefit. And I want to pause here, especially for my female listeners. We often struggle with the ask whether it's asking for introductions, asking for help, asking for the sale. We tend to stumble here. So this is your opportunity to take a breath and see how you can actually take the bullets and qualities of your success strategy and just transfer it over, just like it's a template, just like it's a stencil success from over here.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:05:38 And we just bring it on over to whatever the challenge is. But I really want to say that the asking piece is often what I find my female clients struggle with. So back to this case study.
3. Offering mini sample sessions-
Just like someone might get a first massage to experience his magic, he now offers short, complimentary coaching sessions so prospects can feel the transformation firsthand. So it is a show, not tell strategy.
And then lastly,
4. Hosting small, intimate gatherings-
Think coffee chats or mini workshops where the vibe is personal, not promotional. It allows him to showcase his gift of holding space and going deep without it feeling salesy.
The results? His coaching practice is growing steadily, and more importantly, it feels aligned. He's not betraying himself to the market. He's marketing by being himself. And that's the power of success clues.
Now here comes the challenge for you. Because you know that I'm a fan of taking information and pairing it with implementation. Please don't let this just be ear candy, but take it in.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:07:06 Allow yourself the opportunity to grow and expand with your time investment.
Let's get concrete.
1. Example number one- Let's say your workouts are consistent because you've got a workout buddy holding you accountable. But your business goals feel scattered. The solution is borrowing the accountability system, whether that means creating a mastermind or finding a business buddy.
2. Example number two- Your friendships are thriving because you invest time every week to connect and show your vulnerability, but your romantic relationship feels a little distant. The solution is to borrow the same approach. Dedicate time and vulnerability and apply it to your partner.
3. Example number three- Maybe your creative hobby feels expansive because you allow yourself to experiment without judgment. Meanwhile, your career feels rigid. Solution borrow that freedom to play and bring it into brainstorming and innovation at work.
You may be thinking, Wow, this seems so simple. And the beauty is, you're right, it is simple. But it's something that is at your fingertips, and it's free, and it's a mindset shift.
Here's what makes this mindset tool brilliant:
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:08:33 It trains your brain to shift from problem-focused to solution-focused instead of getting stuck in what's broken, you start asking, where am I winning and how can I borrow from that?
This is the heart of what psychologists call transferable strengths. It's the same principle that makes career changers successful. If you were amazing at organizing logistics and event planning, you can apply that to project management.
If you were great at storytelling and marketing, you can apply that to leadership communication.
Neuroscience backs this up. When we reframe challenges through the lens of existing strengths, we activate the brain's prefrontal cortex, the problem-solving solving creative zone. We literally expand possibilities. To me, that's one of the most exciting things about self-leadership is growth, and through awareness and consistent action, we can expand our capacity to not only hold more and give more, but be more.
So to recap, here's my invitation:
Identify a win.
Choose one area of life that's working beautifully.
Extract the success clues.
List the people, places, routines, values, or qualities that make it thrive.
And then lastly, borrow the brilliance.
Transfer those same clues into a current challenge. Write it down. Try it for one week and watch what shifts.
Success leaves clues.
I'm saying that again because it is powerful and it is true. They're not hiding. They're right in front of you, embedded in the things you've already mastered. Your job isn't to chase some brand new strategy; it's to recognize what's working, honor it and replicate it where you need it most. When you start cross-pollinating your strengths, life feels expansive, aligned, and full of possibility.
And the best part? You don't need to wait for anyone to hand you a roadmap. You've already got it. You've been creating it every time you've succeeded.
My father calls it muscle memory. So any time that I get down, he always says, “Kar, you have the muscle memory. You've created a seven+-figure business in your life from nothing. You have the muscle memory.”
And you, my friend, you do too. You have already got it.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:11:18 So take this tool and run with it. Whether it's in your business, your health, your relationships or your creativity. Remember that you are already brilliant. You are already holding the keys. All you have to do is transfer them.
Because if success leaves clues, and it does, your next breakthrough might just be hiding in plain sight.
Thank you so much for listening. Thank you for just hanging with me and sending me little notes and emails, and topics that you want me to riff on in the future. I read every single one, personally. It doesn't go to my team. I look at every single correspondence, and your words matter to me, and your time and energy and love and showing up and listening to this podcast matter also.
So thank you so much. Share it with a biz bestie, someone who also could benefit from borrowing brilliance from what's already working. And I can't wait to share more with you next week. Until then, my friend… breathe, joy.
