Unleash Your Wild Heart: How Creativity Fuels Soulful Success
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:00:00 Welcome back, beautiful. You have landed where soul meets strategy and modern women leaders gather to reconnect, realign, and rise. Today, we're diving into something that I believe is not just beneficial, but vital. The importance of incorporating your wild heart into your work.
This episode is especially for you if you've been juggling way too many responsibilities. And in the midst of it all, you've forgotten what it feels like to be fully alive. I see you, you're craving a spark. That creative magic, that sacred connection to your true self. And maybe, just maybe, you're wondering, “But what if I'm not creative at all, Kc?”
Let's unpack that. That is a giant mind lie. That is a myth. First off, let's debunk that myth. You are creative. We all are. Creativity isn't just about painting a masterpiece or writing a novel. It's about how you move through the world. It's the way you problem solve, the way you style your home, the way you plan your day, or dream up a new business offering.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:01:08 Creativity is your divine birthright, and yet we often feel completely disconnected from it. Why? Because we're oversaturated. We're overloaded. No. Drenched with input ads. Social media, podcasts? Yep. Even this one. News messages and noise. So much of what we consume isn't even ours. And when we're constantly in consumption mode, there's no room for original thought. There is no breathing space for our inner wisdom, our inner artist, our wild heart to bubble up and be heard. I've written a couple things on this. I'll drop the links to those articles in the show notes. If you want more on just easy ways to silence the noise.
But for now, let's just look at the power of white space. One of the most radical things you can do in a productivity-obsessed world is to create your own white space. I mean, this is amazing that this is a radical move, but it is, and I know that you can relate to this. That means intentionally carving out time and protecting it fiercely just to be, to doodle, to sit in nature, to get your hands messy with clay or paint.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:02:27 To allow your mind to wander without judgment or agenda. I'm going to share something with you sometimes, like at the end of the night when I have made dinner and it's been a long day, and I take the stove grates off, I will literally just finger paint with the suds on my glass stovetop. I know that sounds really silly, but it is incredibly relaxing. It brings me back. It nurtures that inner child, and it doesn't have to be long. I can feel the effect of making hearts and sunshines and doodles and flowers and clouds, and birds in the suds on top of my stovetop. I'll feel better in five minutes. And that stove is super shiny too, when I'm done.
White space is where new ideas are born. Creativity needs room to stretch out and play. It needs quiet. It needs safety. It needs permission. And if we're honest, that's scary for a lot of us. Michelle Baker once said, “If you're not willing to do it in art, you'll never be willing to do it in life.”
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:03:36 Let that sink in. This quote hits me deeply, especially when I find myself hesitating to add to a piece of art that feels done, or even to just pick up the pen or the paintbrush. That moment of resistance, the fear of ruining something, mirrors the same fear we feel and face in real life. When we're afraid to take a risk, speak our truth, or try something new.
Art becomes a training ground for courage.
And that's why I've been intentionally creating space for creativity. I schedule it because if it's not scheduled, it usually doesn't happen. For me, that looks like journaling, drawing, painting, or even splitting wood. Yes. Splitting wood. People laugh. Actually. They're like, really? You don't look like that type. I absolutely love it for a lot of different reasons. But I think too, when we spend, a tremendous amount of time living from the chin up and relying on analytics and metrics and conversion rates and all the things that we do as solopreneurs and leaders, to have this other opportunity where it's not going to be judged.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:04:52 We will absolutely see something for our efforts. That's one of the reasons why I love to split wood, because not only does it get me moving, gets me away from a screen or a box, but it gets me into nature. It also helps me be mindless and do something where I will see the result of my effort.
I think for many of us, whether we are working for a nonprofit and we're just putting in a lot of work behind the scenes, or we are an entrepreneur and there are so many details and so much silent suffering, if you will. Sometimes, I mean, I don't mean to be doom and gloom, but sometimes it does feel like we are suffering silently, like no one really knows all that it takes to have a beautifully polished, front-facing brand. But sometimes when we're in that world, we often put in a lot of effort without seeing anything. And so when you're creating something, whether it's writing or painting or an outside project, when you show up on the scene, you know it.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:06:02 It shows! You have something tangible for your effort. So that's one of the other kind of side benefits of all of this.
Let's bring in a little neuroscience. When we engage in creative activities, especially those that require tactile engagement like the painting, drawing, sculpting, we activate different regions of the brain, including the default mode network. This network is associated with self-reflection, imagination, and deep thinking. Creativity also lights up the prefrontal cortex, the PC, helping us access innovative problem-solving and emotional regulation. Who doesn't need that? Every day we have a thousand things that we have to solve. And this nervous system regulation. I know for myself too, like I've been having some personal things, and I've noticed I've been spinning out this week, and I can feel my system is taking longer to come back into balance. And this is new for me because I live a pretty even-keeled life. And so over the last couple of weeks, I would say maybe the last three weeks, I've had some extra stress and things that are out of my control that I have to really come back.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:07:15 I have to take a breath. I have to take the medicine that I share with my clients. And what I mean by that is this medicine of what enriches our soul. This medicine of tuning in, not out, and literally practicing. Practicing what I preach. Practicing the breathing. Practicing the artwork. Practicing when to put a boundary down and step back, and come back home. And so I just want to say that I am right here with you. I am walking alongside you.
Actually, my love coach usually says I am not the sage on the stage, but the guide on the side, and I love that. And I really feel that. And I want to just impart that on you as well. That we are all in this together. This is our human experience. I don't think anyone has it figured out. There is no such thing as perfection. We are all walking each other home, right? That's a beautiful, beautiful quote that I also love and adore. We are all just walking each other home. When we can just impart some of these creative things and most often than not, they're free.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:08:34 They're literally at your fingertips, which is something too, that I love because we're talking now about inclusivity. We're talking about accessibility. These are core values that I think many of you share with me.
There's a beauty and there's an untapped potential of creativity that once you let go of this idea that that's great for someone else, or maybe they were born with it, and you literally go, Hug! I wonder if I could do something like that? I wonder if I could just kind of play and doodle or journal, without needing to label it, without needing to label myself? I think a lot of people get caught up with like, oh, I'm not an author. Oh, I'm not an artist. What if you could just take a breath and lean in and let go of any impetus that you need to judge, label, perform, or produce?
I know that's really tricky for a lot of my high performers, because we're wired for that. We are wired to be independent producers, and this is your opportunity to just lay down that identity and tune into your inner soul core and see what's in there.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:09:57 See what kind of creativity is looking to be expressed. I guarantee you're going to feel you're going to feel things, maybe for the very first time. There is going to be a connection with yourself, that is indescribable. That you're not going to get flipping through a magazine, or buying the latest makeup product, or tuning into some YouTube tutorial. This cannot be replicated because it's you teaching you, it's you connecting with you, and only you can do that. So it's really exciting.
Creativity makes you happier. It makes you more resilient, and it absolutely will enhance your connection with yourself.
When you feel better, you lead better.
I've been leaning deeply into a practice called intuitive neuro art, both personally and with clients. It's a fusion of art making, intuitive expression, and neuroscience. And those of you who listen and follow me know I love some neuroscience.
The goal is to dissolve limiting beliefs. There are lots of different algorithms in this intuitive neuro art, but I like to use it to dissolve limiting beliefs and give a voice to the parts of you that don't usually get any airtime.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:11:12 This isn't about skill. It's not about being good at drawing. It's about bypassing the logical mind, tuning into your subconscious, and letting your inner wild woman take the lead. It's very exciting.
I think, you know, sometimes we're out of touch with this and it can just feel like words like, oh, you know what I mean? Like blah, blah, blah, but you have to experience it. You can't just have this be ear candy. You really need to lean in and try it on for yourself.
What emerges is powerful. Clients have reported major breakthroughs, emotional releases, and clarity they couldn't access through traditional coaching alone. I've been seeing things in a different way and feeling a newfound fuel since making this type of neuron-stimulating art. It's that holistic component addressing mind, body, and spirit that makes a shift sustainable.
Success without soul is just burnout in disguise.
To the woman who feels disconnected from her creativity. This is for you. The woman who feels like she lost her spark.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:12:27 The leader who gives so much to others but rarely takes the time to listen to her own heart. The solopreneur who craves freedom, fun, and play but doesn't know where to begin.
Let me offer this. Start small.
Pick up a crayon and scribble for five minutes.
Free Write in your journal without editing.
Tear up some old magazines and make a collage that reflects your mood.
Sit by a tree and just be.
Creativity isn't a luxury. It's medicine. It's soul work.
The more you feed it, the more vibrant and aligned your life and business become. You didn't come here to play small. You didn't come here to follow rules and formulas that dim your light. You came here to blaze your own trail. Wild. Free. Fully expressed.
Creativity is the bridge.
So I'll leave you with this. What can you do today to reconnect with your creative spark? What if five minutes of art could rewire your brain, recalibrate your nervous system, and reignite your joy? I believe it can.
Kc Rossi, PCC 00:13:38 Maybe not five minutes, but over time. And two things that are really important to remember when you're creating new neural pathways in your brain. They will take a stronger hold if you will. They will. They will be created faster and more efficiently through higher emotion and repetition.
So, maybe you're not going to be able to see instant results in five minutes. But realistically, if you bring this into your life and you practice it on a daily, I believe it can absolutely rewire your brain, recalibrate your nervous system, and reignite your joy.
Pump up the emotion. Repeat the process. Repeat this process of creating white space. Be curious of what's inside your beautiful self, your beautiful soma. Allow it to come up. Give it a space to be expressed and watch how things change for the better.
